ARTIST STATEMENT
As an artist, I have always been in the practice of making art meet commerce. Although I consider myself an artists first, I have worn many hats in the entertainment industry over the years in considerable ways. My bio and directing résumé below focus mainly on my theatrical directing and writing career, while my CV shows the breadth of related (and some unrelated) work that I have done over the past 30 years.
As an artist I have worked in every genre and style imagineable. My degree is in theater directing and I have been trained to direct and enjoy all entertainment. I do have a particular fondness for the absurd and populist theater and consider myself one of the early practicioners of immersive theater in NYC. Ironically, I have a strong background in both satirical and farcical theater (lately that has included many musicals) as well as horror and hard-hitting melodramas! My most notable skill has been making big budget ideas happen with no budget. Ask me to make a car crash happen on stage with no money and I am in my element.
As an arts administrator, I have worked as a drama teacher, producer, theatrical publicist, digital marketer, traditional marketer, in advertisement, general managing and bookkeeping. I would like to continue my career directing theater of all-stripes, teaching drama full-time to either high school or college age students, or helming an institutional or community theater as its Artistic Director or Executive Producer.
